There is only one way to be born…a thousand to die. Most educated human beings plan their families. Most males can reproduce when they turn say fourteen or fifteen. But they do not, because there are priorities in life. It is time for completion of their studies, making a career and gaining the much needed experience in life. Then they grow, become self reliant and start a married life. The two of them  raise a family. They still plan….for a child. Not now..maybe a year later...maybe after the next promotion. It’s their bundle of joy, it’s a hope for their future, it’s a responsibility. It is celebration time. The baby's first step, first word, first day at school till he/she becomes fourteen or fifteen…and the cycle repeats in the next generation. But, all the while, when everything is running to a plan, there is something else happening…which finds no place in the plans. Death is lurking around from the day the life is born. Of the thousand ways to die, disease perhaps has the widest span. It can be a stroke, a short span of illness, a prolonged disease requiring life support from others, and many a times something that just has no cure…but life continues…in the hope that some day someone will find one. Then there are accidents, disasters and natural calamities, for which no one really plans individually. They just happen when they have to. Then there are self-inflicted ways to die. Substance abuse, for one… avoidable relations, for the other. Even a tiny mosquito can play havoc with lives, a little rodent can cause an epidemic. One's own body can produce harmful chemicals, which can not only cause one’s death, but also that of the caretakers. The list can go on…and on. We cannot forget the wars in which the soldiers virtually carry their death in their hands. There are weapons that can cause death not just to the soldiers but to a vast humanity that is leading a peaceful life.

Yet, man is born to live…and not to die before his time has come. He has to struggle to live till that time comes…and that time is decided only by the Creator - who has created life itself. To conclude, one can only add that while there is only one way to be born and a thousand to die:

To live is life

And to die is demise

Life is in your hands

Death is not

Live life to the fullest

That’s only what is wise.
