On that special dawn with the last ray of light
When the mind of men experienced their true delight
The grace of the Lord showered deep
Jolted him of his slumber throwing away the blanket of sleep
The inexplicable sensation not yet understood
Between him and a living consciousness some one stood
With calming touch made him see around
Made his ear listen an unheard sound
His tongue moved to articulate the mantra eternal
Slowly raising the ignorance veil
That is the moment the animal graduated to become a man
His never-ending journey thus began
Step by step up the ladder
Mind fixed on one thing, nothing else does matter
From man to superman, up he will go
Never to return to the animal low
What is left behind, better be so
To the greatness of ‘virat’ he has to grow
Evilness, hate, anger, greed
Sacrificed all in exchange of a far greater need
For a ‘life divine’ much beyond this world mundane
Beyond the sufferings, misery and pain
But alas! The animal-pull at times too strong
Testing his faith, his judgement of right and wrong
At such times, only this much grant, oh Lord of mine
I shall not ask you to battle as that of thine
Just remind me of your presence and assurance
‘I may not forget you’ when the sun shines or it rains
With you in mind I shall win for sure
And shall return, just keep open your door.
I shall know my life has not gone in vain
A very small price I paid for all my gain
Allow me to wash your feet with grateful tears
I have nothing to offer…all that you gave me is already yours.
